One of the best things about Harvest time is all the fun harvest festivals—October is Harvest Wine Month in Paso Robles and the Santa Barbara Vintners October festival is a must. The other is stomping grapes! If you’ve never been to a grape stomp in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo or Paso Robles wine country, here’s a full list.

Several wineries in the area have grape stomping parties, some of which you can race through the vineyard, wear a toga, or see what Pinot Noir grapes taste like off the vine. Read below to get the details!

Cass Winery: Paella & Grape Stomp October 18

Celebrate Paso’s Harvest Wine Month at CASS Winery’s annual Grape Stomp! Take in the vineyard views under our oak tree, enjoy live music, and join in the fun with a traditional grape stomp — roll up your pants or hike up your skirts for a memorable, photo-worthy afternoon. Chef Charlie will also be serving up his famous paella (vegetarian version available).

Your ticket includes a glass of wine or sangria along with the live-fire paella. More wine will be available to purchase. Wine Club members enjoy special pricing; be sure to log in with the same email tied to your membership to receive your discount.

Opolo Vineyards: Harvest Festival Dinner & Grape Stomp October 17 & 18

At Opolo, every glass is a reason to celebrate! Guests are invited to 2 nights of Harvest celebration each year in October, where you’ll roll up your pant legs and get to stompin’! The evening features sunset views from the winery’s iconic hilltop, gourmet appetizers, and the chance to stomp grapes in 3-ton bins.

Attendees will enjoy award-winning Opolo wines, indulge in authentic Balkan cuisine (oysters, whole roasted lamb, Sarma, chicken, and all the extras), and experience lively folk dancing. This signature event sells out every year, so reserve your tickets early and celebrate a great start to a successful harvest.

Grape Stomping in Santa Barbara County

Alma Rosa Harvest Grape Stomp September 20

Located at the winery in Buellton, this grape stomp offers live music, charcuterie and cheese boards, lots of wine specials, and grape stomping fun. It also include a souvenir t-shirt, so you can have bragging rights on this vintage’s wines.

Sunstone Winery: Harvest Party Stomp September 27

The valley’s premier harvest celebration returns! Guests will enjoy two meals, live music, a grape-picking contest, a grape stomp, and a complimentary bottle of wine—all included with admission. Now in its 28th year, the Annual Harvest Celebration is heading back to where it all began: the exclusive and luxurious Sunstone Villa. This one-of-a-kind event offers attendees the chance to celebrate at the Villa with friends while experiencing the winemaking process firsthand.

Guests will begin the day with breakfast and sunrise mimosas at 8:30am before heading into the vineyard for grape harvesting. At 10:00am, they’ll enjoy a grand wine tasting, followed by grape stomping, live music from Out of the Blue, and a catered lunch by High on the Hog. Kalyra Winery: the Great Grape Stomp October 11

This year, the Grape Stomp event will be held at the winery’s new location on Industrial Way in Buellton. Stomp grapes, enjoy lunch, live music & sip or sample wines from 6+ Buellton wineries! Whether seasoned pros or first-timers, everyone will have the chance to get messy, channel their inner winemaker, and experience this traditional winemaking method firsthand. With plenty of laughter, delicious food, and, of course, grape stomping, it’s an event designed for friends and family to enjoy together.

This is one of the oldest grape stomp parties in Santa Ynez valley happening each October…and I do mean a party. You can show up in anything from a Lucy Grape Stomp outfit to a toga. Any grape-related costume is encouraged, as well as stomping (and sampling) as much wine as possible, then jumping on a drunken tractor winery tour, plus eating and dancing to live music on the front porch. Vincent Vineyards Harvest Party October 11

Vincent Vineyards invites guests to its Harvest Celebration on Saturday, October 11, from 12 to 4 PM. The afternoon will feature a buffet-style lunch on the scenic patio, an old-fashioned grape stomp, and the opportunity to meet winemaker Zach Perron while learning the stories behind the wines. Attendees will be among the first to taste new releases from the 2023 vintage, as well as enjoy a special re-release of the beloved 2018 vintage, making for a memorable day of food, wine, and harvest festivities.
